My name is Priyans Murarka, and for the past couple of years, I've been documenting my EV journey through this blog - https://expwithevs.in . What began as a simple way to track my EV road trips with data has grown into a platform where I explore and share insights about the industry.
In addition to running this blog, I’ve been steering a profitable, bootstrapped hardware startup centered around air quality sensing and solutions for over a decade. My commitment to impactful work extends to my volunteer efforts at Veditum, an environmental nonprofit.
In just 26 months, I’ve written about 16 EV road trips, documented 9 customer experiences & issues, and written 20 industry articles - this includes short form analysis, as well as extensive reports. A complete list of articles is available under the Archives section.
My work includes an article published on The Ken about BPCL’s charging infrastructure, and I've spoken at various industry conferences. I've also co-hosted podcasts with TeslaClubIndia, and I maintain public databases detailing my spending on charging networks and the charging stops made during my road trips.
Throughout my interactions in the industry, it became clear that there's a significant gap in the collection and transparent presentation of primary data. This realization is what drives me. ExpWithEVs will continue sharing valuable data and insights about the industry, with the hope that the industry discourse centers user experience as it grows
My first paid Charging Infrastructure in India report did better than I expected. I’ve seen it being used as an industry benchmark and to understand what is happening in the Indian Charging Infrastructure domain. The data from the report has also been used in investor pitch decks. Industry leaders have quoted my report and said that it gives a near accurate representation of what is happening in the industry.
.My article on BPCL’s charging infrastructure for The Ken is still making the rounds in the EV industry. People come up to me and tell me that they really liked the fact based reporting. My industry article on ‘Opportunities in the EV ecosystem’ has pushed founders and companies in directions they always wanted to explore, but didn’t see the validation. My road trips and customer experience articles get a lot of love in the community groups.
Think tanks in the EV sector don’t show the primary data in their reports. They stick to the data being shared on governmental portals, which may not always be accurate. I believe those numbers project the image that the government would like the industry to believe and not what’s really happening on ground.
Paid subscribers to this blog will get substantial insights into these data reports. To give an example, my next report on EV Charging Infrastructure (available as a one time purchase) contains over 10,000 charts. While only a very small slice of the report will be shared openly, a slightly deeper cut along with interesting charts will be published for the paid subscribers to this blog, giving them substantial insights into what’s happening.
Paid subscribers will also get access to more data oriented reporting. To give you a spoiler, I am filing an RTI for a story that impacts the lives of everyday people while charging their vehicles. Interesting times ahead!
To maintain the integrity and independence of this work, I rely on the support of readers like you. Paying for these articles ensures that I can serve you, the reader, without being influenced by sponsorships or brand promotions. Researching, collating, and writing each article requires substantial time and resources, and your subscription will help sustain this effort. Your subscription will also help pay for my time.
With your support, I will continue to focus on what truly matters. I won’t chase breaking news or rehash press releases. I won’t cover car or product launches. Instead, I'll provide my unique perspective on the industry, sharing insights that I believe are worth your time.
