Welcome to the 2412 release of EVInfra.BI. We made the charger intelligence tool live in September 2024. We tested, conducted demos, and gathered client and industry feedback over the past few months. Now, we’re excited to announce some big updates for both the data and the tool.
Read this post to learn more about EVInfra.BI or watch the accompanying video for a detailed walkthrough.
EVInfra.BI is a first of its kind industry tool with the ability to give insights like never before. The tool makes the entire ecosystem smarter and benefits EV customers.
Some of our clients have started using this tool with their network, pricing and operational strategy teams to study their competition. Other use cases are by investors to understand how their portfolio companies are performing against competition.
Now that you have an idea of what EVInfraBI is, let’s see how we’ve enhanced it.
New concepts
Highways
This update lets you find patterns across chargers on specific highways - Expressways and National Highways in India. We provided a preview of this feature in an earlier article.
Hubs
Some CPOs are actively investing in building charging hubs - large and small. Customers are more likely to find charging spots at these hubs. Thus, it is important to look at such charging locations and CPOs differently. We are introducing a few dedicated charts for hubs on the tool. We define hubs as locations with more than 10 charging points.
There are at least 8 public charging hubs in India with a grid demand of over 1MW!!! There are some CPOs with more than 50% of their public chargers installed in a charging hub format. And some large CPOs with < 1% of their chargers at a charging hub. Sign up now to gain immediate access to these insights.
Jodi Chargers
Jodi in Hindi means pairs. We are identifying CPOs who have mastered the art of setting up chargers within a radius of another CPO. Customers signing up for 2412 EVInfra.BI will be the first ones to experience this feature once live in February 2025.
The concept of Jodi chargers emerged during my Mumbai-Delhi road trip, specifically in Dausa.
Data
CPOs
We’ve added new CPOs to the mix. We are now collecting data for 41 CPOs representing close to 90% of the market. The last data update had 16 CPOs. If we have missed out any CPOs with significant chargers, then please drop a line to priyans@expwithevs.in.
We are currently covering public chargers from the following CPOs - Aargo, Adani Total Gas, Audi/ChargeZone, Bijlify, BPCL, chargeMod, ChargeZone, eFill, emobility, EV Pump, EV Dock, EVOK/chargeMod, Evolute Surat, Gentari/ChargeZone, Glida, GMVN/Statiq, GOEC, GoEgo, HPCL, Hyundai/ChargeZone, Hyundai/Statiq, IOCL, Jio BP, KSEB/chargeMod, Kurrent, LionCharge, Mercedes/ChargeZone, Mobilane, NikolEV, Recharge EV, Relux Electric, Shell Recharge, Statiq, SunFuel, Tata PEZC, Volt Panda, Voltran, Volttic, Xobolt and Zeon.
Collection
We’ve significantly enhanced our manual data collection processes, supported by our growing team and streamlined workflows. We are expanding our team and seeking individuals to assist with data entry tasks. If you're interested, please fill out this form.
Hygiene
We improved data hygiene by checking each CPO app three times. The latest data for all CPOs was reverified in the last couple two weeks of December 2024. Our data refinement process identified private, restricted, or captive chargers, and effectively purging them from the database. The rise of aggregator platforms has forced us to be more diligent while collecting the data and avoid duplication!
Upgrades to existing features
Highway Proximity
You can now go deeper and identify chargers which are 250 meters from an expressway, national or a state highway. The current parameters are 250m, 500m and 1km.
Non working chargers
We made the data for non-working chargers more reliable. We’ve looked at each charger atleast three different times in a week to identify whether the charger is online or offline.
Amenities
Based on customer feedback, the amenities near a charger has been restricted to 250m from 500m previously.
Urban / Non urban
We refined the categories of urban and non-urban chargers. Urban is defined as a charger based on the dwellings around it.
Newer charts
More attributes have been collated for the chargers, resulting in newer visualizations. We have added charts indicating charger rating and host types for all CPOs.
Host Types
The definition of Host Types has been made slightly broader to allow for better data insights.
Metro Cities
Thrissur has been removed from our list of metro cities with prioritized charging infrastructure monitoring.
Performance Improvements
We improved response times by reducing live calculations on PowerBI. These improvements are the result of extensive database optimizations. Data uniformity has increased given our processes have smoothened out.
Commitment
We are committing to provide the next three data updates to customers signing up for our annual package. Please fill this form, and someone from our team will reach out to you to get you onboarded.
This tool has 17 interactive charts, 3 maps, 10 cards, 12 drill down charts, 7 tables and 4 exploratory visualizations spread over 24 pages. There are 25 slicers that can be used to slice and dice through the data in any combination.
You can slice through CPOs, Number of ports on a charger, State/UT, Zones, Non working chargers, Connector Types, Highways, Metro Cities, Rating, Rates, Highway proximity, Urban, Hubs, Nearby amenities such as Food, Auto, Shopping, Hospitality, Fuel, Charger Host, Host Type, Host Brand and Host Group.
Unlock endless possibilities by EVInfraBI and get answers to the questions you’ve always wanted to know.
How do I use it?
EVInfraBI is hosted on PowerBI. If your company already uses Microsoft products like Teams and Outlook, then it is highly likely that you have access to PowerBI. If not, it costs around US$10 / user / month to get access to PowerBI Pro.
You can also sign up with a free Microsoft Fabric Account to get a 60 day trial for PowerBI Pro. It is mandatory to have a business email address to sign up for PowerBI.
We are happy to train your team to use PowerBI for EVInfraBI.
Acknowledgement
EVInfra.BI was created by Priyans Murarka and Garvit Singh. This wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of our data entry team.
Disclaimers
The data in this tool is static but will keep getting updates every three months.
While we’ve taken great care to ensure data accuracy, we recommend verifying the information independently before making decisions. If you notice any discrepancies, please contact us at priyans@expwithevs.in.
